Inner Art

Mysticism and the Creative Process

Inner Art is about insight and art. As with lucid dreaming, wherein the dreamer knows he is dreaming as he dreams, I cultivate a two-fold awareness while making art. Sometimes it is only possible to see what you have been saying after your work is completed, but sometimes you can go on a journey as you work with your third eye open.

Some artists don’t have any interest in understanding their work, they just want to do it. They may even eschew commentary or interpretation. That’s ok, but make no mistake, my explorations are not merely intellectual. These are the musings of a mystic who loves to venture deeply into the mystery of being. If you think Zen koan as artistic venturing, you would not be far off.

The paintings that you will see in Inner Art are my own. If you are curious, or you would like one for yourself, they can be found at https://www.leslieihde.com/

As a mystic, an artist and a psychotherapist, my inquiry is about inspiration and the creative process. I am interested in the ways that an artistic practice can embody inquiry. Think Zen Koan meets muse.
